Midwifery Care ~ Home Birth Services

Prenatal Care

·     Visits average 60 minutes and are in your own home.

·      Monthly visits until 32 weeks, bi-monthly until 36 weeks and weekly until birth.

·      Holistic care encompassing the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of pregnancy

·      Referrals for lab work and ultrasounds

·      Emphasis on nutrition and self-care

·      Late pregnancy “Catch Class” to prepare for birth

Labor and Birth

·      Labor in the comfort and privacy of your own home

·      Monitoring of baby’s heart rate and mother’s vital signs

·      Tubs available for labor and birth

·      Delayed cord clamping

·      Midwives are trained in neonatal resuscitation

·      Complete newborn exam

·      Midwives carry medications for hemorrhage

·      Midwives suture tears if needed (with local anesthetic)

·      In case of transfer, we accompany you to the hospital (depending on current hospital policies)

Postpartum Care

·     Visits average 60-90 minutes and are in your own home.

· Six scheduled postpartum visits for mother and baby: Day 1, 3, 5, Week 2, 4, and 6.  All visits include assessment of mom's physical and emotional health and well being as well as baby's feeding, health and growth.

·      24-hour availability for urgent concerns

·    Placenta encapsulation

·      Breastfeeding support

Well Woman Care

·      Well Woman Care is the term we use in midwifery to refer to gynecological care. Our approach is similar to our care during pregnancy, it is holistic and individualized.  As midwives, we are licensed to be able to provide gynecological care to women throughout their adult life.

·      Pap and HPV screening

·      Breast exams

·      Family planning and fertility consultation

·      STI testing

·      IUD removal

·      We also offer IUI services

Postpartum Midwifery Care

We now offer a postpartum care package for families planning a hospital birth. This six-week in-home care package includes the same quality postpartum care that we provide our home birth clients to support the health and well-being of the family.

·      Six scheduled postpartum visits for mother and baby, beginning when you get home from the hospital. We typically see clients three times in the first week and then in weeks two, four, and six.

·      24-hour availability for urgent concerns

·     Visits average 60-90 minutes and are in your own home

·      Breastfeeding support

·      Postpartum Herbal Kit:  Healing peri-wash herbs, postpartum happiness tea, Happy Ducts herbal tincture for breast health

·      Batch of lactation cookies

·      Placenta Encapsulation available for an additional fee
