Birthstream is a group practice of licensed midwives providing care to families in Yolo, Solano, and Sacramento counties since 1977. We believe that pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding are natural, normal physiological functions of the human body. We also believe that attending to the mind, emotions and spirit during the childbearing year is an essential part of midwifery care. We recognize pregnancy and birth as defining parts of life. Integrating birth into the whole of family life empowers the parents and strengthens family bonds.
Our services include comprehensive prenatal, labor and birth, and postpartum care for mother and baby, with postpartum/newborn care continuing for 6 weeks postpartum. We offer waterbirth and placenta encapsulation. We also offer “well woman care” outside of pregnancy, and a postpartum care package for families planning to birth in the hospital.
